Liquid Diet
There are many types of liquid diets today. The most common of course, are the medical and the fasting liquid diets used for patients in medical facilities. Clear liquid diets are usually required before any major surgery and full liquid diets are usually the type of diet you are put on after surgery. However today, there are also liquid diets created for losing weight and even for detoxification and cleansing.
One particular liquid diet, the New Lifestyle Diet, is made up of high protein shakes, hot drinks and soups. This safe liquid diet is the perfect springboard diet for creating a new lifestyle. I like the fact that they promote a change in lifestyle and food portion control. In all actuality, it appears very similar to the slim fast program. The diet incorporates shakes and bars with one sensible meal per day. The only real difference I can see is that the New Lifestyle Liquid Diet also incorporates soups and a few other hot drinks in the mix.
One of the biggest considerations in starting a liquid diet as a means for weight loss is the length of time you will be on the diet. Most liquid diets are not appropriate for long-term use or for significant weight loss. Liquid diets normally do not provide the vitamins and essential nutrients needed for peak performance or for maintaining energy levels. All that being said, people that have minimal weight to lose should use a liquid diet.
Liquid fasting diets, or liquid cleansing diets are used to flush the body of toxins and waste material. It is normally a one day fast and involves drinking large amounts of liquids, sometime a whole gallon. There are four specific liquid fasting diets or phases to the most common liquid fasting diet: apple juice, apple cider vinegar, lemonade, and distilled water. The liquid fast diet is a great way to get your health back on track. It is recommended that after partaking in a liquid fast that you feed your body good living foods free of chemicals and pesticides.
As with any diet, water will certainly be a large part of a liquid diet. Most people do not drink near enough water every day. In order to achieve success with any weight loss diet, drinking enough water is essential.
